Product Engineer II

GENERAL
Summary:
Under the direction of the Engineer Manager and/or Senior Staff Member, participate in multidisciplinary design teams in the development of product(s) throughout the entire cycle, from inception through end of product life.
This is a hands on position requiring the ability to perform difficult and critical tasks as assigned.
This position works closely with all areas to complete assigned engineering projects in accordance with specifications, with in schedule and budget limitations, coordinating activities of the team and vendors to reach these goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Perform a variety of duties involving difficult and critical fabrication.
Uses team management skills to lead the group during the planning and specifications and design and development phase of product development.
Responsible for making dimensional, mechanical, and functional products and components and conducting performance testing of a complex, diversified line of components and products.
Responsible for the design and development of drawings for production, prototypes, and for fixtures for testing.
Responsible for the compiling of bills of materials using Harris or its equivalent.
Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans conferring with others.
Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements from the Marketing/Sales/Management staff.
Determines project specifications by studying product design, requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
Actively engage and interact in support of sales/marketing efforts to develop customer relationships.
Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements.
Maintains project schedule by monitoring progress:
coordinating activities; resolving problems.
Plays a major role in the design and development of the product or component.
Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and recommending actions.
Prepares monthly reports, detailing progress and costs for Staff management.
Enforces a safe and clean working environment.
Contributes to the team efforts and leads the team(s) during the plan and specification and design and development phases.
Process engineering change notices.
Uses a PC in day-to-day activities.
Works closely with the manufacturing personnel to resolve technical problems and analyze design concepts as to their manufacturing, feasibility, and costs.
Make technical calculations using computer programs, handbooks, guides, manuals, etc.
to support design related activities.
Assist in sourcing and vendor selection in the development and supply of purchased items.
Make recommendations for changes to the standards.
Provide technical information and specifications as required.
Do research pertinent to the development of the product/component.
Keep abreast and well informed as to new developments in the field through contacts, with educational institutions, seminars, professional societies, and perusal of tests, technical papers, journals, and periodicals.
Reviews and studies existing equipment, facilities, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs.
Determines field issues which may require travel to out side plant locations.
Ability to travel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required with experience or equivalent.
Eight to ten years of engineering experience in mechanical and project engineering design and three years or more in leading multidisciplinary design teams.
Excellent communications and organizational skills.
Excellent Solid Works CAD skills and computer skills.
Experience with manufacturing, engineering and quality assurance methods and CAD and project management applications.
Other CAD skills a plus but not required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
